The Kedarnath Temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and is deemed to have been develoved by Adi Sankaracharya. The magnificence of the temple can be considered by the fact that it is one of the twelve jyotirlingas (Lord Shiva Temples); there in the country. The temple remains open only for an era of six months, due to heavy snowfall in the wintry weather months. Testing the fervour and devotion of the pilgrims, we cannot reach to the temple directly by road. From Gaurikund there is 14km track that has to be completed by foot.

Guptakashi:-
A Shangri La, Guptakashi is very beautiful, pleasant and having breathtaking scenes here. Guptakashi is situated in the Northern Himalayan ring within the Mandakini river valley, which has a belt of green forests. Many streams and rivulets drains into the main Mandakini River. The river has healthy climate with its elevation being around 1,319 metres (4,327 ft). The snow view of the Chaukhamba peak is a breathtaking and eye-opening sightseeing in the morning and you can have an exceptional view of chaukhamba on full moon night. The valley has large number of magnolia (locally called Champa) that provide a sweet scented atmosphere to the place, oak (Baanj), burans an exceptionally beautiful flower you ever seen in your life and also named as the “Raya Pushp of Uttarakhand” trees the temple.
Gaurikund:-
Gourikund the initial point of the walk to Kedarnath Dham can be reached from different tracks. One of the regularly used routes is through Uttarkashi, Chamba, New Tehri, Tilwara, Agastyamuni, Chandrapuri, Guptkashi, Sonprayag then Gourikund. In this route the Rudraprayag is not roofed as the same can be visited even as returning from Badrinath Dham. The other route is through Srinagar & Rudraprayag. From Rudraprayag one route goes to Kedarnath and other route goes to Sri Badrinath Dham.
